If you’ve been having problems or pain with a knee joint, and your doctor recommends you see an orthopedic surgeon for a knee surgery or procedure, it’s a good idea to inform yourself regarding not only the procedure, but what to expect, before, during and after.
What are your best options?
- Knee replacement surgery (Arthroplasty)
- Knee ligament repair
- Knee washout procedure
- Knee abrasion arthroplasty
- Runner’s Knee (Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome)
- Anterior cruciate ligament repair (ACL repair)
That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to knee repair and surgery procedures. Knee surgery helps maintain and even increase range of motion, reduce your pain, and help repair tears or wear and tear caused by sports injuries, arthritis, or general aging.
Know your options, and they don’t have to be local! You can get the best in orthopedic surgery in locations around the world including India and South Korea, for half the price you’d pay in the United States or Great Britain. Research your options. Make sure your orthopaedic surgeon (regardless of where he or she is located) is certified through State, Provincial, or National Board of Orthopedic surgeon organizations or associations in their country of origin.
Don’t suffer through pain or limit your opportunities for optimal joint health. Get your knee problems taken care of. Your knees bear your weight and offer you independence and mobility.

Jerry was having trouble with his knee – more specifically his anterior cruciate ligament or ACL, after a rugby game nearly blew his knee out. He’d already missed one season of play and wasn’t about to miss another, even though he was in his 50s. After all, he loved rugby, and he wanted – no, needed – to play, not only for his physical health but for his mental health too.
ACL injury is common, but the ligament is extremely important in knee joint stability and can be damaged through fast changes in direction as well as pivoting or twisting movements, just like Jerry experienced one-day playing rugby. He’d played for decades without an injury, but that day, he’d just placed his foot wrong, he guessed.
He got online and looked for orthopedic surgeons who specialized in knee surgery and ACL repair. He learned that anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair is done through arthroscopic knee surgery on an outpatient basis. The procedure is performed with an arthroscope, a very thin, flexible fiberoptic scope about the diameter of a common drinking straw inserted into the knee joint. No huge incisions, no muscle damage or prolonged healing time. Arthroscopy procedures also reduce risk of infection.
He looked around some more and found affordable ACL repair procedures offered in India for about $3,500, thousands of dollars cheaper than he could get in his native homeland. He wasn’t scrimping on quality though, far from it. He chose a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon for his procedure.
Thanks to online international medical resources like PlacidWay, Jerry found the best surgeon to repair his knee, and at an accessible, world-class and affordable orthopedic hospital. In addition, he’d throw in a vacation to boot.

Jackie woke up every morning stiff and sore. She figured she was just getting older, but didn’t think her achy joints should feel this way at age 43. She’d been active all her life, enjoying playing on a women’s soccer team, softball, and, in her more daring moods, rock-climbing. Still, she was startled to read that the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons announced that 1 in 7 Americans experiences bone or joint pain or problems.
After a visit to her doctor, Jackie’s doctor referred her to an orthopedist for care. She’d been diagnosed with facet joint arthritis in her lower back region, and he had noted arthritic joints in her knees and one shoulder.
Jackie mulled over her options. She was not yet prepared for joint surgery, and besides, she was not currently insured and orthopedic surgery in the U.S. was way too expensive for her limited budget. Her friend told her about orthopedic surgery abroad, such as knee replacement surgery or rotator cuff surgery in places like Costa Rica or India. She knew of a sports therapy clinic in Croatia that treated Olympic athletes. Some of the best sports injuries programs in Croatia such as those found at Terme Selce offered professional and amateur athletes like herself the best in care and experience while saving thousands of dollars.
Her own doctor told her about a well-known orthopedic surgeon in India who ran the Madras Joint Replacement Center in Chennai. There, she was told, she could save over 40% on surgery costs compared to what the same procedure cost in the U.S.
Now, Jackie’s on a mission to find affordable treatment from global experts in orthopedics and arthritis care. After all, she’s got more games to play.

Diagnosed with arthritis of the knee two years ago, Jack’s condition has grown progressively gotten worse. Unfortunately, he’s near his cap limit on insurance due to an unrelated auto accident. He decided he wanted to look for knee surgery elsewhere than in his native Wisconsin.
Jack’s condition was caused by gradual wear and tear on his knee from years of playing rugby. He’d fractured his knee in his younger days and as he passed his 50th birthday was plagued by the aches and pains caused by arthritis, to the point he could hardly walk in the morning.
Browsing through the Internet, he came across PlacidWay, an international medical tourism and information resource. After spending some time researching articles regarding orthopedic surgery abroad, he decided to follow up on the knee replacement procedures offered by Dr. Venkatachalam and his Madras Joint Replacement Center in Chennai, India.

Like Jack, people around the world are seeking accessible and affordable medical and surgical care. He found what he was looking for in India.

Did you know that back and knee injuries are the most common, and cost workers in the United States over 400 million lost workdays. Multiply that by people around the world experiencing such joint or skeletal injuries and that’s a lot of people out of work or unable to perform daily tasks or enjoy activities.
What’s worse is the cost of repair joint injuries. Cruciate ligament repair via knee arthroscopy in the U.S. costs an average of $17,000 per knee. At the Madras Joint Replacement Center in Chennai, India, medical travelers may save up to 40%, paying just under $5,000 for the same procedure. In the U.S., a hip replacement procedure averages $45,000. The very same procedure in Poland costs just over $5,000, with a 50-60% savings, or roughly $7,000 in Turkey, and $6,000 in India.
Why are medical costs so high in the U.S. and so much less for the same surgery procedures abroad? Quite simply, different health care delivery systems. In the U.S., costs are also inflated for malpractice insurance, health policy premium profits and more.
Opting to have orthopedic surgery abroad, such as a hip replacement surgery or a rotator cuff surgery in Costa Rica can save you big bucks. Take your athletic injury to one of the best sports injuries programs in Croatia such as those found at Terme Selce. They treat Olympic athletes! Your medicals offer you the best in care, training and experience while saving thousands of dollars in medical care costs.
Know your options, at home and abroad. Treat your orthopedic injuries fast, and without putting you in the poor house for the rest of your life.
