6 Symptoms of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is a disease which doesn’t take into account age (it affects young women) nor sex (it affects men too). Everywhere in the world people are increasingly encouraged to seek and provide accurate information, as accurate and complete information about breast health encourage medical tests and investigations that could detect this disease in its early stages.
What should you know about the mammary gland…
The mammary gland in women shows fat tissue on the glandular tissue. It is also important to know that breast lymphatics drain in the axilla (armpit) so make a breast self-exam every time you can and do not forget to palpate and analyze the armpit. In men, there is a minimum of glandular tissue that can develop and can manifest pathology from gynecomastia (breast growth in men) to breast cancer. In men, breast cancer is more aggressive than in women. Breast cancer can occur in several forms, depending on the location and type of cancer. What is most important is that cancer can be diagnosed before the symptoms appear, so we’ll talk about the first two medical tests (investigations of the breast) that every woman should know.
Medical tests that find the symptoms of breast cancer
Breast ultrasound is recommended for young women with mammary gland without atrophy, which can be done even from a young age. In women ages 45-50 the mammary gland is “dense” and the film mammography is quite opaque. Breast ultrasound does not irradiate the body and it has the advantage that it can analyze the armpit. Breast ultrasound can detect: – Breast cysts; – Axillary cysts; – Glandular hypertrophy; – Lumps, breast cancer; – Infections, etc..
Medical tests for breast cancer detection: Mammography
The mammography is an investigation recommended for women older than 50 and regular screening is indicated as it is a method for breast cancer detection. This investigation involves, however, irradiation.
Detection of dense tissue in the breast, the self assessment must be done by the doctor, before further investigation. The breast should be examined and palpated regularly.
Itchy nipple / nipple discharge
Nipple discharge and itching is another of the 6 symptoms of breast cancer and it can be due to irritation of the skin, but if the palpation nipple under the skin feels rough pigmented tissue, then necessarily requires further investigation. Nipple discharge occurs most often because of hormonal disorders, but always have investigated the specialist.
If the nipple is redrawn in any way or reversal occurs (a “clogging” of the nipple) you should go to the doctor.
Retracted skin or “orange peel” look
Signs on the skin that should send women to the doctor are: – Obvious skin retractions; – Abnormal skin pigmentation; – “Orange peel” look of the skin . Premonitory symptoms of breast cancer –
Asymmetries of the breasts
If one breast is obviously asymmetric over the other, you must the doctor for specialty investigations. The breast can increase in size in many diseases by developing mammary gland abnormal tissue (one or more cysts, inflammation, nodules, etc..).
Breast tenderness might represent a manifestation of the young woman development, the breast may become painful but in the case of cancer pathologies in a late stage of evolution (in the first phases “Cancer does not hurt!”). Any young woman should conduct annual breast ultrasound and the women in their 50’s should not neglect the method of screening mammography for breast cancer.
